Introducing the talented coaches who will guide our 2025 Stars on their dancing journey

She taught 3rd grade at Pagosa Elementary and has worked in primary education for 12 years. She has always been a strong advocate for foundational learning and healthy development in children and she is excited to have the golden opportunity to contribute to such an outstanding cause!

“Break Legs everyone! I can’t wait to see what we all come up with.”

Jason didn’t start dancing until about 12 years ago. He found Argentine tango about 10 years ago and it quickly became his favorite. “In my experience the intimacy found in tango is greater than that in any other dance. It may be the perfect dance expression of the masculine and the feminine, which empowers collaborative creation like no other. Two, dancing as one.” Jason is currently teaching tango in Durango two nights per week. Please visit the Durango Tango Facebook page for more info.

He has previously danced in the Dancing With the Durango Stars fundraiser. A recently retired interventional cardiologist, retired Colonel in the US Army, and Iraq War veteran, in addition to a passion for West Coast Swing Smolin enjoys playing guitar, painting, flying, skiing, and spending time with his family.

We want to also thank our talented MCs, Jason Cox and Heather Simpson!
